Who hasn’t heard about the President Election coming up? This topic has been a sensitive spot on public nowadays, both in USA and my beloved country Indonesia. But even though it’s supposed to be a friendly and peaceful election, in fact the candidates are being tested for their endurance in working under pressure. What pressure are they facing? I’m gonna tell you about this popular subject which soars in the recent years; Hillary for Prison 2016.
Hillary’s full name is Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton. She was born in October 26, 1947, so she had a birthday a week before this post get made. She is a nominee for the President of the United States in the next election, which makes her background story an important info for us all, even for those who don’t live in USA. 2009’s Economy Crisis further pressed the fact that USA’s economy could affect the whole world, so everyone’s gotta know who they’re dealing with as a leader.
In this discussion, I’m going to discuss the uncomfortable position that Hillary sits now, where people turn an unfriendly eyes toward. They study the background of every president candidates, being very very critical on every mistake that the candidate did in the past. Furthermore, the opposition’s supporters will do more than just being a detective of the nominee. No, they are being a murderer and a beast – they will smell the scent of every hidden scars in the nominee’s past, bite them, rip them open again, and then show them to the rest of the world so more crowd will feed on the flesh and the blood of – wait, wait, my serial killer side is showing.
Anyway, Hillary isn’t no exception. It’s good and all, with people being so selective on whom they’ll choose in the future to lead America, but times like this reminded me that politic is evil, and only the tough are going to make it through without attempting a suicide every night. This time, Hillary has a worthy threat; the risk of living in jail for 20 years is shadowing her every movement. The “Hillary for Prison” hashtag becomes so popular in the social media, mainly Twitter. It was when I browse the news I stumbled on this intriguing topic.
That Hillary Clinton? Prison? What’s up, actually? So I got to look up, you know what I mean? It’s a risk of sending an old lady into the prodeo hotel, and 20 years could mean the rest of her life. Why? What had she done to deserve that? Didn’t she work for the government before? Isn’t that enough to reduce the punishment to a forgiveness, if she really has a fault? Or maybe her employment is the time when she did the crime, if she did any? Why, why, what is Hillary’s fault? I then searched for it, but there’s something fishy. The result was not satisfactory.
People provided various insight on why Hillary must be in jail. People said she is a danger to the USA and the world, in the economy and military point of view. You can read that in the first page of Google if you’re looking for it. People also said it was because there are some traces of illegal activities that she did when she employed herself on the government’s seat, e.g. using a private email server which is Hillary-exclusive. People got suspicious that she contacted ISIS, maybe? Yeah sure, maybe she traded cat photos with goat while they’re at it, but the point is, I’m not satisfied with all the reason.
The keyword here is the “insight”. People don’t have a solid proof as why she should be condemned to knit some shawl behind the iron bars. I meant, really? The use of a private email server? She might have done that to protect some precious information regarding the White House activities from some hacker. She might had used that to email the USA’s cop to protect some places with high terrorist risk, while hiding it from the terrorists themselves so they wouldn’t know the cops were ready(even though I heard some complain that the cops are never ready, but hey that’s not the point here). The other reasons only provide speculation and suggestion, which I’m afraid would not be enough for the court.
Majority of the reason that people provide actually can be easily blocked by some simple logic. For example, if people could obtain knowledge about Hillary’s private email server, why wouldn’t the government itself know? The government must have done some research themselves about the email server, and I think the email server would be –still- under their supervision. Hillary couldn’t possibly do a thing under the well-organized White House, could she?
I’m not trying to defend Hillary here, but I’m demanding an actual answer on what reason the “Hillary for Prison” hashtag is popular on the social media. I’m sure the world wants to know, too.
With this, I learned further about how I must be selective on which trend is right to be followed an which is not. We’re a smart inhabitant of earth, aren’t we?
